Conjunto Comes to Stubb's Waller Creek Amphitheater
Stubb's has been an Austin icon since the mid-70's. From the Stubb's website, the "restaurant became the heart of an explosive music scene. Stubb's was ground zero for musicians like Joe Ely and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Other famous musicians who would “play for their supper” included Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Robert Cray, George Thorogood, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Linda Ronstadt and the Fabulous Thunderbirds."
In the 40 years since, Stubb's has developed an international reputation and has presented everyone from James Brown to Metallica to some of South by Southwest's hottest shows. In 2013, Rolling Stone rated it #5 on the list of The Best Big Rooms in America. Complex.com listed Stubb's on the list of top 50 venues in America. And so on...
Despite this great history, Conjunto is a new one for Stubb's. Conjunto on this scale is new for downtown Austin. The thought of accordion sounds floating out of the venue and onto Red River Street fills us with pride.
